April 2009 — "I Went on a Sunday drive with a friend and ended up just past Field, BC, at this lake/resort called "Emerald Lake." It's one of the most beautiful places I've seen yet in the Rockies; furthermore, an exceptional place to spend a long weekend or week to get away. The restaurant was in the "Emerald Lake Lodge" and the dinning room was exceptionally well setup, with beautiful hardwood floors and tonnes of windows exposing the several mountains surrounding the lake. Unfortunately, due to winter weather you couldn't see much of the hue of the lakes color; nevertheless, it's very evident by the gift shop, 30 rental canoes, and tonnes of individual lodges with wood burning fireplaces that it's an ideal Rocky Mountain experience!! I had the Big Rocky Mountain Burger with a side of Tomato Basil soup. The burger was one of the juiciest "home made" style burger i've had in a long time (served on a multigrain bun and loaded with toppings!!!) The soup was very thick and flavor filled. Sunday evening there was not many other people dinning with us, but our meal was prepared very promptly and the waitress really gave you the feeling of a high end dinning experience. I cant wait to go back again in the summer, what an excellent discovery!!! Also, I noticed that everything on there menu ranged between 12 and 32 dollars, beers were between 6 and 8 dollars, and the wine list seemed endless....."

BulletDescription

Taste a bit of history at the Emerald Lake Lodge dining room. The menu is inspired by the decadent meals presented on CPR rail cars in the Victorian era and Swiss and Austrian mountain guides to create dishes that use the best of regional foods. Specialties include elk sirloin, rack of lamb with potato waffle and truffle butter, grilled caribou with goat cheese gratin and grilled buffalo ribeye with herb spatzle. Find them 32 km (20 mi) west of Lake Louise.
