June 2009 — "Julio’s Barrio is located amidst the great shops and restaurants of Edmonton’s Whyte Avenue. The place really draws you in with upbeat Latin music, bright colours, festive décor, and a fun and lively atmosphere. It is always busy and the patio spills out over the sidewalk in the summertime, full of patrons enjoying colourful frozen drinks and cold cervezas. But as a restaurant, I think it is a bit of a disappointment. The food is quite overpriced and although the portions are generous, the menu has a decent selection and the servers always seem happy to be there, it is just not very authentic Mexican fare. To get the best of both worlds, I would recommend you make yourself some homemade tacos before you leave the house and then head down to Julio’s with some friends. Make sure you try their specialty, the Mexican Bulldog—a Corona tipped into a 2 oz. frozen Margarita!"

August 2008 — "Julios Barrio is a fun place to go during the summer. The front of the restaurant becomes open-air and a SMALL patio containing a few tables is located on the sidewalk. This restaurant is ALWAYS busy and has a social, upbeat and lively atmosphere. The crowd is young, it seems ages 20 to 30 are the majority. You cannot go to Julios without a tropical summer drink such as one of their famous margaritas. I have tried a variety of fruity flavors and all have been good. In the past I have ordered the enchiladas, the chicken fajitas, and last time I ordered the nachos platter. The nachos are great. They are loaded with tons of veggies and cheese (and its huge).
This restaurant is great for meeting up with old friends and getting to know new ones. The food and the drinks are reasonably priced and of decent quality. The atmosphere is great and gets you in the mood for a big evening out!

July 2005 — "Only go to Julio's if you want a margarita and want to sit on Whyte. The kitchen is cheap on ingredients, and every time I've gone there -- every time, seriously -- I've left angry because I've paid so much and gotten so little. Expensive nachos with no cheese; I'm basically paying money for a bag of warm chips dumped on a plate.
Unless things have changed significantly from a couple years ago, I'm never going again. This is possibly the worst rip-off in Edmonton."

Dishes served here are served up with the tastes of Mexico. Enchiladas, quesadillas and fajitas are all stuffed with your choice of chicken, steak or shrimp. An assortment of margaritas are served in a variety of flavours.
