June 2009 — "Japanese Village recently opened their second downtown location. The interior décor, along with the food, was modern and trendy; however the service at the sushi restaurant was not. Our waitress was inattentive to our needs and did not project a professional attitude. There was no follow-up during our meal, and no additional beverages were offered after our sake ran dry. We found ourselves often searching for a floating body to receive service. On the other hand, the sashimi was delightfully fresh especially since we dined in on a weekday, and was presented creatively on a wooden plank. Maki rolls were prepared well, as the filling was tasty and proportional to the amount of rice, and the rolls itself were intact but also handled gently. Inside, the décor of the restaurant generated a dim, chic and modern feeling, however we dined at 8:30PM and it felt too early to be sitting in a lounge-style atmosphere. In addition, the floor set up did not seem favorable to larger parties."
