"Same Name, Very Different Restaurants"

September 2009 — "I always go to the Sicilian Pasta Kitchen located at Parsons Road out of convenience. It wasn’t until I tried the Jasper Ave location that my views on the Sicilian Pasta family changed forever. It never dawned on me that a restaurant with multiple locations could be such worlds apart. Not only is the atmosphere different, but also the service style and menu items. It almost seemed like they were two entirely separate businesses. To start the evening off, we shared a fitto misto platter. This very large assortment of fried seafood is excellent for sharing amongst a large group. The calamari was delicious, however the batter on the fried shrimp and scallops were less crispy. A guest on our table recommended the piatto assortitto, the chef’s choice of two daily pasta’s served on the same plate, which lived up to be very tasty. The pastas that evening were gorgonzola linguine and spaghetti with spicy sausage, both delicious and even better in alternating bites! The gorgonzola sauce was very rich, possibly too rich on its own, but is broken up nicely by the sharp tomato sauce in the spaghetti. Unable to fit in any dessert, I settled for a cappuccino that brought back memories of Italy. Service was brisk and efficient, unlike the south side location where servers seemed less alert and professional. The clientele also differed, ranging from men is business suits to elderly couples enjoying the night out. The next time I go to Sicilian Pasta Kitchen, it will be the downtown location."

February 2008 — "This was my third time visiting only the Jasper avenue location. And I can never stop talking about going there again! And each time I go the service is nothing short of fantastic! And the food... all I can say is WOW!"

July 2007 — "I recently walked into the Jasper location of the Sicilian Pasta Kitchen. I was meeting some friends for a late lunch. I hate to say that I left horribly disappointed only after a few minutes. I entered the restaurant and patiently waited for someone to greet me. I waited and waited and waited some more. I know they saw me at the front because I did see them look up and at me when I walked into the restaurant. Yet, no one came. Not even a, "Hi. I'll be right with you." Nothing. The restaurant was barely half full and I only saw a couple of staff in the front. Where did the rest of them go? Finally after a few minutes the guy from the bar walks towards the front and proceeds to ignore me and takes the two people that came in AFTER me to a table! Even after he seated those two, he just went back to the bar, started talking to another guy at the bar and forgot about me. I stood there for over five minutes and NO BODY acknowledged me. Where was the hostess? Where was anybody?
Needless to say, I left and called my friends and told them to meet me at a different restaurant.
On the other hand, the Sicilian Pasta Kitchen on the south side - great service and great food. "
