August 2011 — "Chiantis Cafe, an Italian Restaurant, was located across from out hotel and so we checked it out. It is a fairly big place with high ceilings with huge heating pipes crisscrossing the ceiling. For me, it was a bit hard to hear because the sound of voices reverberated around quite a bit. Looking at the menu, it seemed that prices were higher than the Chiantis in Calgary, Willow Park, where I had eaten a while back. I decided to have the Seafood Pasta for about $17. It had a healthy helping of shrimp and scallops in a yellow curry sauce. The noodles were very thick and a bit dry. The flavor was good though. There were also bits of pineapple in it and they were delicious, providing a taste explosion each time you bit into one. I checked out the wine list. They have their own label, Rosso Italiano availabe for a reasonable price. (About $27 per bottle) If you want to spend more you can buy a bottle of 2004 Solaia for $200. "

May 2008 — "Anyone who writes that Chianti's is not good has to have some kind of a vendetta with them. Maybe they were fired for being a poor employee or something. And Chianti's is very loyal to good employees. I have been going regularly to Chianti's since it opened, which had to be over 24 years ago, and I have seen the same employees there for year after year. Excellent servers all. I have never had bad service at Chianti's, I have never had a wait, the restaurant is always bustling and full of patrons, you can go there with your family, your parents or for a more raucous time with your friends and always have fun. The food is delicious and has always been very affordable. The pasta is fresh and tender, the seafood is always fresh, the Italian Salad for two is a favourite of mine and my son's, who is 24 and who came regularly to Chianti's with me for the 14 years I was a single parent. He now lives in the area with his girlfriend and Chianti's continues to be his favorite restaurant and a favourite of his girlfriend as well. Monday and Tuesday nights are cheap pasta nights and you can get a great pasta meal for two (with crusty rolls that are gratis) for under $25.00. If you add wine or drinks and starters, it is more, of course. But I ask you, where can you get lovely fresh pasta for two for $25.00 anymore? I believe I have probably been to Chianti's over 200 times over the past 20-odd years and I have never had one single complaint about the ambiance, about the food, about the prices, about the wait (because there is none), or about the service. Now that's a good review and a completely honest one. Oh and one last comment -- the food is authentic. The owner is Italian, how could it not be?"

November 2007 — "The Chianti Cafe on Whyte Ave is a large restaurant located in a neat old corner building that was formally the “old post office.” The décor is inviting and bright. Firstly, I felt that the atmosphere in this restaurant was nice! The servers were wonderful and seemed to care about making our visit at Chianti the best it could be. The food was equally as wonderful. One of my favorite appetizers was the Gamberi Al Vino (Jumbo Prawns in Garlic Wine Sauce). I have been to a few Chianti restaurants in Calgary, but I think that that food and service at the Edmonton Whyte Ave location was much better.
The dishes at Chianti Café are reasonably priced. They range between $8-$20. The best day to go to Chianti Café is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when all of their pasta dishes are on for half price! It’s a great deal!

September 2007 — "Who could resist the old post office on Whyte Avenue as a special place to visit.
Having found a parking place behind the restaurant for a $2 fee for 2 hours, we jumped the potholes but were within a quick walk to the side door leading to the restaurant. There are parking meters in front but the space behind and across the alley was roomy and convenient.
Chianti's in Edmonton has hospitality uppermost in their approach to the customers.
We were met by a host who seated us in an area away from the other patrons so that we were not crowded. The waiter came to speak to us, brought water and menus. He had a friendly, classy manner that made us feel important and welcome.
The Italian menu is extensive with seafood, chicken, veal and pasta dishes listed with Italian names. Each entree had an explanation in English. You get to order with your psuedo Italian if you want and still know what you are getting. As the items are made from scratch, individual requests could be honored. The tomato sauce I had with seafood added zip to the dish but did not mask the flavor of the fish. One friend had chicken in a wine sauce while the other friend had prawns with pasta. No complaints. Fresh buns went over well too.
Great appetizers were enjoyed on another visit but the meal was sufficient this time. That is until dessert! What a great ganache. The chocolate was Callebaut. How could you top a meal in a better way! Coffee, hot chocolate, tea. The service was top drawer. We did not ever feel rushed.
Chianti's is a mid-range restaurant with a warm and friendly welcome awaiting. The prices were in the $15 range for an entree.
I'd definitely take guests to Chianti's again."

April 2007 — "I have tried this place a few times, as it's always full of customers, so I figure I must not be ordering the right thing. Dissapointment after dissapointment. The flavours are bland, the presentation is bland. Somehow, they even manage to screw up simple spaghetti for a kid. The noodles, over cooked, the sauce, bland as ketchup!
I will NEVER return there."
