November 2011 — "For my birthday, my boyfriend took me to Koutouki, it had been a few years since I was there last and the restaurant hasn't changed one bit. We were seated right away, and it was a good thing we made a reservation as the restaurant filled up quickly. We couldn't decide what we wanted to order to we tried the Meze, which is a little bit of everything. The menu said to not fill up on your first few courses and it was hard not to. The greek salad was perfection and the pita bread was fresh out of the oven. All the little samples were pretty great. The last thing they served you was the lamb...and I'm not a lamb lover but I found it extremely fatty and was hard to eat. It wasn't appetizing. If we were to go back we would order the soulvaki and potatoes and skip the lamb. "

July 2011 — "For a late evening night, it was a little difficult to find a place to eat in the wee nights around our hotel in Edmonton. Right across from the restaurant there was a quick place to eat, Koutouki Taverna, or so we thought. The environment when you first walk in is pretty nice and impressive. After you pass this initial impressive feeling, you fall back into reality. And reality is, the service was alright. Our server was very friendly and engaging, but once we started looking into the menu and I personally, was taken aback. Everything was pretty expensive. Just a dish of calamari was $16.00! Food was alright, but it definitely left a dent in your wallet. The other dishes we ordered, including the appetizers, like the pita bread, hummus, were pretty delicious, but there wasn’t that much. Our food came and it was good but not amazing. But just too too much money. "

July 2009 — "Order the mezé. Even if your dinner party is only table for two, order the mezé. Koutouki’s meze will cover all the popular Greek dishes for that night, plus provide leftovers for the next couple of meals! The food comes out quickly; therefore if you wish to set a slower pace the waitress will kindly arrange that for you. The first dish is pita bread with a variety of dips, depending on the number of diners at your table. We were a party of 6, and were presented with 4 dips (santziki, spicy feta, homous, and eggplant). Next follows Greek salad, calamari, keftedes, spanakopita, and dolmades. It was then we decided it was a good time to rest. After a short break being entertained by the belly dancer, we were ready to continue on with our meal. The final stretch, although not as abundant in variety as the previous half, will definitely fill you up. The entrées are roasted lamb with lemon potatoes, chicken on rice, and stewed zucchini. Eat smart and save room for dessert (not included in the mezé) as the crčme caramel is delicious. The staff is friendly, and the server kindly explains each dish as it arrives. Koutouki is the only place I go to when in need of a Greek fix!"

December 2008 — "Whenever I eat at the Koutouki Taverna I feel as though I'm sitting in some taverna in Greece. There are plants everywhere and even in the middle of winter it feels as though you're eating outdoors.
We started off our lunch with dolmades and an order of hummus with pita bread. These were all very fresh tasting but the hummus was a little heavy on the garlic. The dolmades had a nice combination of meat and rice stuffing which we enjoyed.
We ordered the stuffed chicken breast for our main course. The chicken was very tender and stuffed with a combination of spinach and feta cheese. There was the usual lemon roast potato and rice with the dish and a huge greek salad, loaded with feta, which I love.
We couldn't fit in a dessert but the nice thing about the Koutouki is that they always give you a small plate of seasonal fruit to snack on after your meal and this always hits the spot. We had apple slices with a dusting of cinnamon powder - a great way to end the meal. "

June 2007 — "I’ve visited this restaurant many times and not once have I been disappointed. It’s a great place with amazing food and service. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in you feels like you’re in Greece; with the music playing and there is a smile on everyone’s face. The food is to dye for and the serves are more the willing to give their recommendations. Not only is it a great place to eat but they also have a belly dancer who goes around to each table and pulls you up to dance, while everyone else are clapping along to the music. The staff real gets into it by pulling everyone up to dance in a line and take you outside and back in. It’s a night of fun and laughter, be prepared to be there all night cause you won’t want to leave."

Inspired by the small tavernas found in Greece, this neighbourhood restaurant's specialties include lamb, chicken and beef souvlaki skewers.
