July 2009 — "Myself, my companion and 2 children went to Montana's on MacDonald Ave (Off Calgary Trail) on a Friday evening. We were seated promptly. We have two issues with our group; 1 - I am a vegetarian eating at a restaurant known for serving meat, 2 - one of the children has several food allergies that we need to be wary of. I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of choices that catered to me (although vegans might have a more difficult time with this). When we requested an allergen guide, the hostess supplied one to us immediately, which is a great sign of a business that caters to the needs of its clients. Our order consisted of an order of fish and chips, very tasty and very filling, a beef burger, also tasty and filling, a children's chicken tender meal, the size and price would have made this a great deal for children, but the chicken tenders were not tasty at all and were left on the plate. I had a small garden salad, which was really not that small, and a side of seasonal vegetables, which was very small. The service was quite good, and the meal large and tasty enough that we will put this on our list of places to go to again. "

May 2009 — "Do not order a steak sandwich unless you like minute steak. This steak reminded me of some of the rural cafes servings from 30 years ago. The steak was so thin it was impossible to cook unless it was well done. It was dry and tasteless. Fortunately the manager removed the steak from the bill. He did tell us however that this pitiful thin slice of meat was their version of a steak sandwich. My wife had the beef stew. It was ok but not tasty. The waitress was prompt and friendly. She was very efficient except she did not let me know that the steak could not be cooked rare as I wanted it. I suspect the food is chosen by non resident management. The staff could not be blamed for food quality."

October 2008 — "We went to Montana’s restaurant on a Friday night for dinner while we were visiting Edmonton. We had not visited this Montana’s restaurant before but we were pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food. We were seated right away even though we needed a table for six. The waitress was very friendly and the service was very good. I had a grilled salmon salad that was made up of two skewers of warm grilled salmon over a salad that included mandarins and nuts and was served with a citrus dressing. It was very tasty and the salad was nice and fresh. I also had a glass of house white wine with my meal which was also very nice. We were dining with our 15 month old daughter and we were able to order her a side order of vegetables to compliment the food that I had brought from home for her. These veggies were nice and fresh and I was able to order them without the garlic butter. The atmosphere at this restaurant a bit loud but very kid friendly. The prices were reasonable and I am sure we will visit this restaurant again."

"Great Ribs!"

October 2008 — "We arrived at a very busy Montana’s restaurant but were seated right quick, even for a large party that we were with. The waitress was very friendly and funny, and quick to help out with the menu items. I ordered the half rack of baby back pork ribs with an apple wood sauce. With the meal, I got to choose two sides which were beans and a baked potato. Even thought the restaurant was busy, the food did not take as long as I expected. The food was hot, and very good. The apple wood barbeque sauce that the waitress suggested, was very good, and I would definitely order it again. Unfortunately due to the large portion of food, I could not even imagine ordering a dessert. Everyone at our table was pleased with the quality of food and the cleanliness of the restaurant. If you ever feel like having a fantastic rack of ribs, make your way to Montana’s in Edmonton South, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed."

"Awesome Food - Great Service"

December 2007 — "If you're looking for a good meal in a more laid back restaurant this is the place. Some have commented that it reminds them of the old Bonanza, however I think the decor suits the food. The service at Montana's was terrific - from the front door greeter to the Manager who came by to see how everything was. I would recommend for anyone, so long as you're not looking for that cozy romantic getaway type feel, then this could be the place for you. My husband particularly likes rib night when he gets to try the different flavors. "

July 2007 — "If you want to pay KEG prices for your meal and sit in a loud, family oriented [read: whining young children welcome here] restaurant that feels like the 1970's Bonanza mess hall style restaurant, then Montanas Cookhouse Saloon is the place for you. Zero privacy between tables. I really didn't want to know what's happening at the table behind us... their new home will take how many months to complete!?!?! The birthday celebrants, complete with horned hat and "singing" [read: SHOUTING] staff wishes... zero fun for the rest of your patrons. Seriously, although the servers are enthusiastic and the food is a decent quality, save your money [and hearing] and go to the KEG. p.s. the flatware was dirty."
