March 2010 — "Attended a business lunch recently at Soho Restaurant located in Western Canadian Place on 8th Avenue and 6th Street S.W. The main floor was a very bar like atmosphere so we went upstairs, there were a lot of stairs to climb so beware if that is an issue for you. We ate on the top floor and there was a nice cozy romantic lounge area on this floor for a more intimate setting, but as we were a group we sat in the general area. I ordered Tempura Prawns as a starter and there was plenty to share, they were very good. For my main meal I ordered Crawfish ravioli which came as 5 fairly large rainbow striped ravioli which was stuffed with mascarpone, ricotta, romano and parmesan cheeses, topped with béchamel and tomato sauce and crawfish. I have never had crawfish before, so I don’t really have anything to compare them to, but I found them to be very small and kind of hard, I think it would be better with shrimp instead but perhaps that is just my taste. The bathroom on the top floor ran out of both toilet paper and soap and the service was also very slow for lunch time."

"Good Food, Bad Service"

December 2009 — "A group of us recently ate lunch at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were greeted by....no one. We were very confused as where the entrance was and where we should go. We wandered into the lounge and sat down, but then realized that a person we were meeting was waiting upstairs - two floors up. No staff was greeting people at the door and it is a really odd hallway/staircase leading to different vacant levels. Once we finally found someone to help us and let them know we had a reservation, we sat down and waited about 10 or so minutes for a server to come to our table and ask us if we'd like drinks. About 10 or so minutes after that, our food orders were taken by someone else. Our food took well over 30 minutes, which seemed quite long considering the place wasn't that busy. The menu is filled with tantalizing dishes like wraps (which actually wasn't a wrap - it was more like a panini - and the guy who ordered it wasn't impressed), burgers, pasta, salads and appetizers. I chose to have the SoHo burger with chips. The burger was delicious, I must say. It had guacamole on it and goat cheese! YUM! The chips were literally deep-fried potato and yam chips. I probably wouldn't get those again. The ambiance was pretty nice, although the curtains had a big white splash of goo on them and other stains, which kind of dampened the overall appeal. Overall, the food was really good, but the service was sooo bad. It seemed like we had two servers, but they never came around ONCE to refill our waters and didn't ask us how the food was. And they didn't apologize that everyone's meal came out together except one person's. He had to wait nearly 10 minutes longer with no explanation. At bill time, we basically had to chase the server down. We were there for nearly 1.5 hours, which is a little unacceptable for a downtown lunchtime spot, at least in my opinion. Maybe I'll try it at night, but if the service is always like that I would rather avoid it."

December 2009 — "Pretty mediocre lunch experience. The food was tasty - I ordered a crab cake burger with a side of potato and yam chips. Prices were a bit on the high side - there isn't anything under $14 on the lunch menu.
My main concern was with the service - it was almost nonexistent. Orders were taken, food was delivered, eventually. No one asked if everything was okay or if we wanted drink refills. One order arrived about 5 minutes after the others and no explanation or "sorry" was offered - it was just set down on the table and the server walked away.
There are lots of downtown lunch options, so I likely won't try this one again."

"A Hidden Gem"

January 2009 — "I really think this place is a hidden gem, it has two levels. The restaurant was great, i love the food not over priced and your getting fresh quality food. I think they do everything their. They also have a martini lounge downstairs which is so beautiful. Music is great, food is really good and servers are awesome. I recomend this place for sure, one of calgary's best restaurant and bar. Oh i almost forgot they also have dancing too....So much fun. Must see."
