December 2010 — "While staying at Storm Mountain Lodge right before Christmas for a few days, I had the chance to dine at the lodge twice. The first night we enjoyed dinner in their intimate dining room which has no more than 10 tables. It was actually quite busy for a Monday night, but we were seated at a nice table and our server greeted us right away. The menu is very limited, but that makes the food very fresh. I chose to start with the heirloom tomato and boccaccini salad, which was delicious. My wife had the baked brie with cranberries. I had the lamb chops with seasonal veggies for dinner and it was pretty good. She raved and raved about her bison tenderloin. The wine seemed fairly expensive, but when we later compared to the liquor store price it was amazingly well-priced and fine wine. The next time we dined there was for lunch and the server then was outstanding. We both got the bison burger which came topped with gouda and some special sauce. It was served with organic greens and was very good. We then were able to enjoy our beverages in the lounge in front of the fire. What a great ambiance this lodge has. We really enjoyed our meals, the service and most of all the atmosphere. We will be back!"

Founded in 1922 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, Storm Mountain Lodge offers stunning views and a rustic charm. The dining room is situated along the wraparound windows in the lodge, not far from the lounge, which is warmed by a massive stove fireplace. Guests will experience Canadian cuisine prepared with a dedication to organic ingredients and naturally-raised Alberta meat and fish. Entrées include buffalo, wild salmon, rack of lamb and free-range chicken. All of the breads, desserts and breakfast pastries are baked on-site. The restaurant is located 25 minutes from Banff on Highway 93.
