"Great Variety"

October 2011 — "This is a great Hong Kong style café that offers a quick meal at a reasonable price. It's a loud and bustling venue with a lot of in and out traffic. If you like variety, here is where you will find an extensive menu of over 300 menu items. They have specials on a daily basis which consists of an entree, soup, rice or spaghetti, garlic toast and a drink. All this for no more than $15, tax and tip included. The service is fast and the food is worth every penny. When people ask for a good Chinese restaurant recommendation, I often reply with four questions "How traditional?", "How adventurous?" , "Who are you going with?" and "How much are you looking to spend?" This isn't the place to take your first date, but it offers good food that comes out quick and it is easy on the wallet. It's not hard to find a dish that is captivating for each person in the party. There is a wide range of selection from Sweet & Sour Pork with Rice to Deep Fried Pig's Intestine, if neither sounds appealing maybe just settle for a Ham & Egg Sandwich. Give this place a try, you wont regret it! "

"Great late night snacks"

July 2011 — "We have been to this restaurant several times and it is great that it is open very late at night 'till about midnight. This is a "Hong Kong" style cafe, so the food is not quite traditional, but still very good. One of our favorite dishes that we always order is Beef fried Ho Fan with Black Bean sauce. It is good every time, and the beef is stir-fried with onion and red peppers. We also tried the Hot and Sour soup which was very spicy! The atmosphere can be noisy, just depends on what time you are there. "

"Authentic HK Cuisine"

February 2011 — "Calgary Court Restaurant is also commonly known as Hong Kong Cafe because it is known for its authentic styled selections based on popular menu items from Chinese and Hong Kong cuisine. Their menu is one of the most varied I have ever seen in a Chinese restaurant. There are plenty of traditional Chinese selections along with Hong Kong favourites and even Vietnamese vermicelli noodles. My favourites are the baked rice/noodle bowls which is a unique mix of western and eastern cuisine. It is your choice of meat (steak, pork chop, fish or chicken) baked on top of a platter of rice or noodles with tomato sauce and cheese. The combination sounds odds at first but you can't argue with the taste. There are also specials every night of the week and includes a side of a hot drink, garlic toast, soup, salad, and an entree all for around $10. It's one of the best deals in town."

"Hong Kong Style Cafe"

September 2009 — "My cousin, sister and I decided to go here after work one day. This restaurant specializes in Hong Kong styled foods and is located in Chinatown. We ordered the satay chicken on rice. This dish is baked with a layer of cheese on top. It was very good and filling. I’ve had it before and for some reason it felt like the portion was smaller than before. We each ordered a dish to share among the three of us. The price of each dish varied from approximately $11-$13 each. Again, I remember this dish being cheaper but I think the cost of food has gone up in general. The service here is very efficient and the serving of food very fast. I’m sure we will end up here again one day. I think it is open fairly late too so that is a definite plus. The washroom is located in the basement and is a bit inconvenient to get to however."

"Great Tastes of Hong Kong"

August 2009 — "Calgary Court is probably the best Hong Kong style Cafe Restaurant that there is in Calgary. The owner has a whole franchise that includes Chinese and Japanese restaurants in Calgary, Vancouver and even Hong Kong. Calgary Court is the first of the franchise to open in Calgary and the best in my opinion. The selection is great and I’d want to try every item on the menu. That would take a while since there’s pages and pages of selection. If you go without any idea of what you want to have it might take you a while to decide. Not that you can’t find something you want, but it’s hard to decide which one to choose from the so many different things you want. The service isn’t the best since the place is always packed. But the food is definitely worth it. Finding parking can be park sometimes since they’re in Chinatown. If you have anyone that would like to try out Chinese food for the first time, this is the place to go to. Just like most chinese food places, the prices are pretty good for the amount of food. "

"A little bit of Hong Kong"

August 2009 — "Calgary Court is my favorite restaurant of all time! The wide range of dishes, from noodles, soups, congee, and rice is limitless. You can order what you want, catered to how you like it for an extra dollar or so. Everyday, Calgary Court offers specials on their menu and are always a great choice when you can’t decide form the menu. There’s a little bit of everything – soup, salad, meal and drink for less than $10! I still hold that their tomato based vegetable soup is the best in town. What would a Chinese diner be without their milk tea, another strong recommendation by this reviewer! Very good. Just like in Hong Kong. For the weekdays, they also have a wide variety of specials that come with steamed lettuce with oyster sauce and rice. Good value for your dollar. Calgary Court is the hustle and bustle of Chinatown, and with that said, the servers are always busy. You will not get fine dining quality, but the food speaks for itself. It leaves you full and satisfied. And while you are eating, you can even be entertained with their Chinese channel on TV. "

"Affordable"

August 2009 — "Plopped by Calgary Court on a weekday evening with a few friends. We were hungry and this is just the place to fill you up without breaking the bank. This little Chinese restaurant has been around since I can remember and because of that, you hear all the interesting stories that may be true or false. The point is to not let it get to you. Take this restaurant for what it is. It offers fast hong kong café style food. You can order individual portions for yourself or a bunch of different items and share with a group. We went with the latter. We ordered a satay baked rice, XO beef ho fan, a baked fish fillet and rice dish, and some Chinese donut wrapped in crepe appetizer. I have no complaints on the food. It all tasted fine. The restaurant itself is plain and the service is the same as any other hong kong style restaurant (not great but you don’t expect anything except for your tea and food to arrive in a timely manner). I recommend this place when you are hungry and need affordable food."

"Best of the Bad Service..."

June 2009 — "...Hong Kong-style restaurants. It's odd, Calgary Court is owned by the same restaurateur as Sun's BBQ and Pebble Street, and in all three cases the food is decent while the service is terrible. I don't know what type of training program the servers are privy to, but someone needs to teach them that it's in their interest to check on their tables every once in a while. The service (which appeared to be a serve by committee) made it difficult to get the simplest of things (such as a beverage refill) in a normal amount of time. Of course my friends and I have known for years the service is horrible. What we really come here for is the Hong Kong-style food menu, which is ample and varied. One of my favourite dishes served here is the Hong Kong-style congee. Served in a piping hot rock bowl, the congee contains pork, diced thousand year old egg, and green onions, among other things. It being raining night at the time, the congee really hit the spot. The bottom line is, don't expect to be waited on when you come here, just expect good food and you'll be alright."

July 2008 — "Calgary Court is one of those old reliable restaurants my friends and I frequent. There are three things we can expect upon every visit. - Really good Hong Kong style food. Try the cod baked on rice with cream of corn. Seriously, it sounds odd, but tastes so good. - Mediocre service. I mean, they're actually kind of good by Chinatown standards, but still. - Haunted washrooms. For as long as we've been going there, people have always said the washrooms at Calgary Court are haunted. I've never seen a ghost in one yet, but I'd like to think some day I will."
