December 2010 — "When looking for a casual place to enjoy lunch on a weekday, we ended up going to the Rose & Crown because many of the other places in Banff were closed for some reason. I have been to this Rose & Crown several times, but not for lunch. They had a special on that was a burger for $5, and you could add cheese, bacon and mushrooms for an additional $1 each and then fries for $2. So I added everything and it came to $10. The burgers were very large and quite tasty and I was not disappointed. The service was very good and we were in and out in no time at all. It was nice to see the other side of the Rose & Crown, which I have only been to when it is a party place with bands at night. It really is a Banff staple and I know that I will likely be back soon."

December 2010 — "In my opinion, the Rose and Crown in the heart of Banff is an unremarkable pub. It occupies a large second floor building and is separated into a dining room and lounge. The furnishings and decor are dated and more than a little bit rundown. The pub area has a few televisions strategically placed for sports viewing. Tables are small but, conveniently, they are not packed together. Their menu is comparable to other pubs with some notable exceptions such as their Buffaloaf, a bison meatloaf. It did not look appealing but my friend said it tasted pretty good and not dry at all. I had their world famous fish and chips. I ordered the one piece selection. The battered fish was massive and cooked to perfection. The batter was crispy but the fillet was moist. The coleslaw was alright but the fries were good. Usually, it costs $11 but this night it was only $7! Service was also satisfactory. The Rose and Crown offers love music every night. The place is certainly alright but it’s not memorable."

August 2010 — "The Rose and Crown really is a landmark in Banff, and you will see why when you get onto that rooftop patio... the views are outstanding. We enjoyed a nice afternoon in the sun, where you really couldn't ask for more!
They have an impressive menu where we shared a few beers and everyone in our party was very happy with their meals. It seems like each of the dishes have been carefully perfected over the years, as it didn't look like you could really go wrong with anything on the menu.
The drink list is also very good, where we had to hassle the waiter a bit for recommending Kokanee from a menu like that... (Kokanee is ok if you don't have any other options in my opinion and we told the waiter he should be giving the fine visitors to Banff some better alternatives...)
This is a must for first time visitors to Banff, as they could be selling catfood and water and it would be worth it (they are however serving up great food and drink, again; what more could you ask for?!)"

July 2010 — "The Rose & Crown is always a good time when you're in Banff, especially on a Friday or Saturday night -- they usually have live music and once the band gets going, there's no shortage of dancing and energy. But if dancing isn't your thing, there's plenty of places to sit -- the pub is pretty huge.
They have the usual selection of pub stuff -- pints of domestic and draft beers, highballs, cocktails, etc. They also have lots of food -- I've had some of the appetizer stuff and it's standard, not amazing, which is typical of deep fried pub food I guess.
Usually, the servers and bartenders are great but the last time I was there, an extremely rude guy who worked there started yelling swears at us once 2am hit. We were finishing our drinks and left no later than 2:10 so I thought his angry rant was really unnecessary. I understand that he wanted to go home, but he was really excessively obnoxious -- even his fellow staff members seemed embarrassed about the language he was using and how loud he was being. I reminded him (as nicely as I could) that he's in the service industry and it's not really appropriate to swear at us, and he laughed it off and pretended he was joking. Right. I like the rose and crown but that experience might make me think twice before going back. "

"Great Rooftop Patio!"

June 2010 — "Some friends and I had lunch at the Rose & Crown during a recent weekend in Banff. We were happy to find seating on the rooftop patio on a sunny summer day, and settled in for some drinks and food.
Our server was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the bbq bison burger with sweet potato fries (at an extra charge). The burger was moist and perfectly cooked and was absolutely delicious. The only part of my meal that I took issue with was the sweet potato fries. They were alright, but they weren't served with anything for dipping, which I found unusual. Serving them with some kind of flavoured mayonnaise or aoli would be a much better (and more standard) option. That's the only thing I would change about my meal. The other girls seemed happy with their meals as well.
Just like all of the other Rose & Crown pubs I have visited, the food was as good as the refreshing cold beer on tap!"

"Pub Tradition Nestled in the Mountains"Anne
June 2009 — "There’s nothing like a visit to Rose & Crown on a sunny summer day to quench a thirst, and ease hunger pangs after a hike in the mountains around Banff. The upstairs patio is a perfect place to plunk and enjoy being surrounded by mountain views on all sides. The dark paneled indoor rooms must be cozy in winter. Serving soups, salads, snacks, sandwiches and main courses, the establishment caters for appetites large or small. The fare’s a marriage of pub food (Steak & Kidney Pie, Shepherd’s Pie, Fish and Chips) and Western specialties (Bison Burgers and Blackened Buffalo Wraps). Service is friendly and swift, prices are decent and good draft beers and domestic bottled - Kokanee Gold and Keith’s Red are on hand. We had good service even though the patio was packed. "
