January 2012 — "I just moved into the Lower Mount Royal area in November and although I frequent several places along 17th Ave I had never been to Watchmans. A friend suggested we grab some drinks so we decided it would be a good place to stop. I was impressed with the location, very open and seemed to have a good atmosphere, despite the usual trend of somewhat stuffy bars along the "Uptown 17th" strip it felt like a good neighbourhoody pub. Although we only had a couple of drinks and a basket of fries we were well looked after. I would not hesitate to go back -- even the music was good!"

May 2011 — "Watchman's Pub on 17th Ave is a great lil place to find cheap wings and pints. Monday night is my favorite night to go. The patio opens in early spring and is a a decent size with sun basking down upon the patio all evening.
For $4 you can get a pint of watchman's original lager beer. It is a medium honey ale and is very good. They also have 25 cent wings on monday that come in a variety of tasty crispy flavors. The wings are a very decent size for 25 cents. They come in orders of 10 and you can order up to 100!
The service I find is always welcoming, such a fun little neighborhood pub! Tons of good people always around and nice clean bathrooms.
One thing I found dissapointing is that they took the two pool tables out recently to add more seating. It was one of the only pubs on 17th ave with pool tables and now they are gone. Check out their other nightly drink and food specials always a great deal! "

March 2009 — "On St. Patrick’s Day I was walking down 17ave with a friend looking for a fun place to celebrate the occasion. As soon as we spotted Watchman’s' we knew we'd found the place, packed almost to the point of no available seating & littered with green from one end of the pub right to the other. We lucked out and got a table by the window, which was great for watching people passing by on a sunny day, and watched our poor waitress scramble around table to table as fast as possible. I give her a lot of credit; they definitely made an above average effort to take care of their customers.
On this particular day, they also were handing out festive paraphernalia to every table and the Irish music resonated through-out the entire building!! It was an awesome environment and it's always great to be in a place that offers you that little extra kick for your money! I had the Fish n' Chips, took about 20-25 minutes after ordering which is fine by me (especially given the amount of people in there.) The portion was very generous, larger servings then your average pub; however, I must say the only downfall was the price of beverages which I found was a little over priced. I don’t remember seeing any food on the menu priced over approx $12 which kind of makes up for it. Can't wait to stop in again next time I'm on 17ave!!

The Watchman's is a classic brewpub. They serve mainly pub-style food and have a wide range of beers on tap. Sporting events can be viewed here on their multiple TVs throughout the establishment.
