August 2011 — "Make no mistake, the dinner buffet at Delhi Danbar is the best quality of food for the price in the city. Seriously, if you want a great selection of Indian food stop reading this review and just head down there. I came here with my friends on a Wednesday to try out their dinner buffet. Hidden in an nondescript commercial space on 16th ave, the facade does not at all suggest the welcoming interiors of the restaurant. We were quickly seated for our meal and our server (who I suspect may have been an owner) delivered a fresh basket of naan to our table. The buffet was probably the most diverse I have ever had at an Indian restaurant. As opposed to some places which offer only one type of curry or vindaloo for dinner service, Delhi had at least 2 of each. Furthermore there was a wide range of vegetarian dishes, pakoras and even a nicely spiced fried chicken to go along with the standards like butter chicken. Delhi Danbar is now my new favourite place for Indian food. Try it!"

"Great Selection for East Indian buffet"
Image

Save Review

June 2011 — "We heard about this place from a friend who had been here a few weeks ago. This is an East Indian buffet place. It doesn’t look too impressive on the outside, or even the inside as a matter of fact. However, their food is amazing! The selection is very good and very well labelled which is a big bonus for those non adventurous eaters. It’s a bit pricier than the ones we usually go to, but I suppose you get what you pay for right? The service was great and the na’an bread was brought out right away. The buffet platters were filled constantly and always fresh. I loved their butter chicken. And their dessert of mango pudding was excellent as was the fruit in the yogurt. We don’t eat much East Indian food, but I’m sure the next time we have a craving, it will be on the list as the next place we go to."

"A Pleasant Surprise"

March 2011 — "When we were looking for somewhere to go near our house that was in the Entertainment Book, we were surprised to see a coupon for Delhi Darbar. Had never seen it or heard about it, even though we live about five minutes away, but when we looked up some reviews online everyone raved about it. When we arrived it was only 5:30pm on a Friday night but there were a few tables. The waiter sat us right away and was very attentive. I am allergic to shellfish and nuts, and told him about it, and he made sure that none of the dishes would have any, which I appreciated. We started with some samosas, there was one veggie and one beef. They were very good. They also gave us some type of bread with two sauces. I had never had this before but it was so good. For our main course we ordered lamb vindaloo, chicken tikki masala and beef madras, as well as butter naan and rice. All the prices were very reasonable for the entrees... ranging from $11 or so to $14. I avoid Indian a lot because when we go we usually end up spending $80 or so for just the two of us. When our food arrived it was deceiving because the dishes they serve it in make the portions look small, but they seemed endless. All the flavours were very, very good. I had a mango lassi to drink and it was delicious. All in all, the experience was great and I could hear other tables saying how great their food was too... what a find this restaurant is. After an appetizer, three entrees, naan and rice, as well as the lassie and the glass of wine my wife had, our bill was $53. We did get a free entree because of the coupon, but even without it all of that would have been around $65, which is amazing value and we even have leftovers. Definitely check them out. They deliver in the immediate area too."

"Best Lamb Vindaloo I have had in Canada"

July 2010 — "We were craving for good Indian food, having been out of South Africa for 6 years and missing all the Indian restaurants in Durban. I ordered hot Lamb Vindaloo, my wife ordered Chicken Masala and my son Lamb Curry, and we all absolutely loved the food and the service. The Vindaloo was spicy enough to be very tasty and flavourful. We walked out with s $65 bill, which was excellent value for money as well. I am sure that this is the best Indian food that we have had in Canada."

"Very Good Food for a Reasonable Price."

July 2009 — "It was not as spicy as I had hoped but the flavours were great and the all you can eat buffet was fresh. The Chicken Wings were to die for. I don't know if it was a tandoori spice they used or what but they were really really good. I would go back just for the wings. The rest of the curries were just a bonus :)"

January 2009 — "I was craving Indian and it being a Sunday night and not wanting to get dressed up, I decided on Indian takeout. I had heard that this place was good and found the phone number on the internet. I ended up ordering the standard butter chicken naan, rice and some vegetarian dishes. Well the food was excellent, nicely spiced, rich in flavor, I am impressed. My next trip will be to experience the lunch buffet."

May 2008 — "This is another Indian restaurant that me and my co-workers enjoy going to for lunch. Their lunch buffet usually consists of chutneys, salad, naan, pakora and 7 main dishes to choose from (vegetarian and meat). The beef vindaloo is really tasty, not overly spicy but if you ordered it for dinner you can go as spicy as you want I bet! I enjoy the chickpeas and daal as well. The owners are really pleasant. Its a bit hidden away in a strip mall beside the Glenmore Inn but worth the look!"

January 2008 — "I have been to lunch at Delhi Darbar several times and the food is fantastic. It is buffet style and each of the dishes has it's own unique flavor. The Naan was hot from the oven and was undescribably good. The price is very reasonable and I have recommended this place to many of my friends. The only down side about this place is that it is not open often enough. I think it is only open for Lunch."
