"Delicious pho noodles"

February 2012 — "Pho and vermicelli noodles are a popular Vietnamese noodle dish that can be found on nearly every street corner it seems. It can be tough to tell a good one from just another noodle shop. Pho Hoai Vietnamese Noodle House is one of the best in Calgary. Their location also makes them a bit of a best kept secret a few people would be found wondering into a tiny and old strip mall inside Chinatown. But it seems that lots of people have caught on to this place since at every visit there is a large and diverse crowd enjoying their delicious noodles. The thing that differentiates a good noodle shop from one that is just pedestrian is the taste of the soup stock and Pho Hoai has a very flavorful soup. So good that I have been there multiple times and yet to try anything else besides the pho noodles."

"My New Fav!"

July 2010 — "I was quite surprised to find that this Vietnamese joint is like a hidden gem in our tiny little Calgary Chinatown. I have made a trip here before and the first time, I was definitely not impressed, but this second time, I was so blown away. Probably with my dish, which was the satay beef noodle soup. I thought that I would give it a try because I've tried it in so many places and see if it measures up to my favourite place - Y2K for the Satay noodle dish. It was perfect and even better than expected because it wasn't soaked with loads of oil. I really enjoyed it. As well, we also ordered some shrimp salad rolls which was also filled with more of the good stuff - shrimp, crunch, and mint and not just noodles. I really enjoyed this place and would most definitely go back again. It was very convenient that they also had a couple of different sizes, which guarantees that you won't be wasting any food. The price was very favourable as well. Love it!"

"Awesome Satay Beef"

December 2009 — "Another hidden gem in Chinatown. It’s often missed as its tucked away in the Far East Shopping Centre just across the street from Dragon City. I’m always amazed by the speed of service at this restaurant. Your noodle soup almost always arrives in 3 minutes or less after you order it. You would think quality would be sacrificed in this rush, but it isn’t. Its always hot, ingredients fresh tasting and the servings are very generous. This could easily be one of my top choices for Pho in Calgary. The only issue with coming here more often is that finding good (read: cheap) parking in Chinatown could be difficult. My favorite dish here is the Pho Satay Beef. Its sufficiently spicy and has a nice body to it. I find it hard to order anything different off the menu because this one always hits the spot. Prices are about $10 for a large bowl."

"Great food but inconvenient location"

August 2009 — "If you are ever in the Chinatown area, you have to check out this restaurant. It's a little hard to find as it is tucked away in the center section of a small mall but it serves great authentic Vietnamese dishes in a casual dining environment. This restaurant is usually packed during the lunch hour but the service is exceptionally fast and you can expect to get your meal within a few minutes. I usually order the beef sate noodle soup that comes piping hot with just the right amount of spice, beef, and fixings. My only complaint about this place is the fact that it's located in Chinatown. It's extremely hard to find parking nearby (OK on weekends) but the parking fee is so expensive on weekdays that it deters me from coming. If this restaurant were located anywhere else, I would ONLY go to this restaurant for Vietnamese food because that's just how good it is!"

"The best little Vietnamese restaurant in town…"

July 2009 — "I think this title is actually the slogan they have on their wall (or some variation of it). Anyhow, it describes the restaurant quite perfectly. I’ve been to this restaurant a lot in my junior high days and have forgotten about it over the years until recently when I was in Chinatown with a friend. I told him about the best/cheap/fastest pho restaurant inside this mall I used to go to and we decided to go. The prices now are on par with other pho restaurants. The service is as I remember, no matter how many people there are in there, you will get your food within two minutes. I’ve always wondered how they did it so fast and yet maintained good quality and taste! We both ordered the special pho, which comes with a little bit of everything in your noodle soup. It was perfect. The quality and flavours have not changed. And the added bonus is you don’t get that extra thirsty feeling you usually get at most pho restaurants from likely the overdose of MSG. I highly recommend this place. "

BulletDescription

Located in Chinatown, the Pho Hoai Vietnamese Noodle House is unique in that its menu focuses mostly on beef dishes. Add even more flavour to dishes using the house-made hoisin sauce.
