June 2011 — "We have been to a few Thai Express locations, and usually enjoy the food prepared. However, it was our first time at the City Centre location (downtown Calgary mall food court). Usually the Tom Yum Noodle Soup is good - but not this time. The broth was terrible! Lacked flavor, and the bowl was not as full as we have had it before. Have to say I would not eat at this location again, or recommend to anyone. Go to the Market Mall location!"

"Quick Thai cuisine"

May 2011 — "Thai Express is popping up in food courts and malls all over town and I recently got a chance to see what the hype was all about. It is a chain of restaurants which features fresh ingredients being cooked by a chef right in front of you. There are quite a few combinations of options available to pick from including whether you'd like to have your choice of beef, chicken, or seafood cooked on rice or pad thai noodles. There is also more sauces than I can name. I'm not sure what differentiates this cuisine from something like a Chinese dish but it all seems to be cooked the same way in a large wok over a very large fire. The food is definitely very greasy but also very good. There are more spices at the counter which you can add yourself. I added a bit of chili pepper sauce to liven up my pad thai shrimp noodles a bit more. "

"Decent Thai"

April 2011 — "Wanting something with a little bit of spice, I decided on Thai Express located in Chinook Mall in Calgary. The menu had a variety of options to choose from. From what I gather, there are generally three levels of spicyness to chose from. I settled on the Curry Chicken which came with one of my favorite dishes, coconut rice. The service was prompt and decent. The food seemed to be fresh and had actual good pieces of chicken. I asked them for extra sauce to be applied on my coconut rice, which they provided at no additional cost. The sauce with the Chicken curry was the yellow sauce. It had a mild hint of spicyness, but nothing my young kids couldn't handle. For a quick meal, this restaurant was fine. The service was quick, the food was decent and the price point was also acceptable. This is definitely no where near the best Thai food I have ever had, but it satisfied my need at this time. I would eat there again if I needed something quick and convenient. "

"Coudn't beleive it was fast food!"

December 2008 — "I regularly visit 2 Thai Express locations - Market mall and Deerfoot mall, both offer good & fast service. The portions are generous (I always have left overs, and I'm not a tiny girl!) and the food is fresh & great tasting. Although I do have to admit, once I tatested the rice noodles and spring rolls, I never tried anything else. Their food is so good, I'll drive out of my way to the mall just to pick it up to go!"

"Good Fast Food"

October 2008 — "I've been to the downtown and Market Mall locations and the food's been great almost every time (depends on the cook). It may not be authentic Thai food, but what do you expect from a fast food joint. I definitely recommend the Pad Sew with beef - fantastic."

"Dissapointing"

December 2007 — "So far, I've been to 2 different Thai Express Locations. When it first opened up in Market Mall, I was excited for the new menu option being offered in the bland food court. Needless to say, the Market Mall location proved to be a success. The stand boasted quick and friendly service with delicately sauteed pad Thai noodles with just enough sauce and portioning. However, when I visited the Eaton Centre location, I was quite disappointed. Not only was my dish not pan fried, to save time as they were closing up, they had microwaved my dish and in turn it was a soppy mess when they served it to me. The green curry tasted dull and lukewarm, the vegetables were soggy and the dish had way too much sauce. Knowing what Thai Express can offer for the food court palette, I highly recommend the Market Mall location, but suggest that you find better Thai options elsewhere in the downtown location."

October 2007 — "For a fast food restaurant, Thai Express was really good. I got this sweet and sour chicken dish. My friend got Pad Thai. The portions were large and the food was tasty. Although it was not exactly authentic Thai cuisine, I would recommend eating here."

December 2006 — "I ordered Thai Express's chicken curry (red) the other day and wasn't impressed. It looked tasty and fresh, but the flavour was lacking (spicy but no depth). Maybe I'm being picky given that it is a fast food joint. Oh well."

"Not Quite Thai"

November 2006 — "I spent 3 months in Thailand a few years ago, and while I am no expert with regards to Thai food, I love it and have a fair idea of what it should be. Anyway, I went to Thai Express and ordered their Pad Thai. It was pretty good, but it tasted just like the fried noodles you would get across the food court at the Chinese place. It just didn't have the distinctive flavour that Pad Thai usually has. AND it came without peanuts, which really make the dish. I know that lots of people are allergic to nuts, but it says on the menu that it is made from Peanuts, tofu, egg, etc. so you'd think that they would include them. Anyway, I will have to go back and try one of their other dishes to see how authentic it is. It's at least nice to see a different option from the normal Subs, Fried Chicken, Chinese and Pasta options that dominate food courts. "
