April 2010 — "I had a business lunch at Essence at the Westin downtown recently. I have had lunch at the Keg at the Westin many times, but had never been to Essence. It was very quiet - a stark contrast to the other bustling restaurant down the hall - and felt more formal. The service was outstanding, exactly what you would expect from a high-end restaurant. The small menu offered some interesting dishes and it was really tough to decide. I opted for the steak salad, which is something I wouldn't typically order. It was a delicious and fairly light lunch. The steak came as I ordered it, medium rare, and was extremely tender. The greens were very fresh and the dressing was light and refreshing. I would definitely recommend that meal. Two of my associates had the special, which was prime rib with yorkshire pudding, potatoes and vegetables. They said it was delicious (and it looked delicious - those yorkies were huge!) but I was glad I'd opted for something lighter for lunch. The price tag is a bit steep, but it is the perfect location for a business lunch as it's quiet, comfortable and located right in the downtown core."
