May 2010 — "WOW sums up my dining experience at Panache in one word! Although I do not usually indulge in expensive dinners, this one was well worth the money! Panache is a fine dining restaurant located at the Westin Bear Mountain that looks over the golf course. The small yet classy restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. The service is amazing and makes you feel very special – the sommelier even came up from the wine cellar to help us with our beverage selections which was very intimate and appreciated. My jaw did however drop when I opened the dinner menu and saw the prices on the one page menu! I decided on an 8 oz filet steak with a cabernet sauvignon sauce ($44). Although the meat, seafood and poultry dishes do come with small appetizers (a 2 ounce butternut squash soup and small sorbet to clean guests pallets before the main meal), side dishes must be purchased separately. We chose the Island Greens salad ($12) and sautéed baby carrots ($10) which were both incredibly fresh tasting. My steak was cooked to perfection; I could tell that it was a very well picked piece of meat, and the sauce was very flavourful but not over powering. If we were not in a fine dining establishment I would have picked up my plate and licked the sauce off! Although Panache is not in my usual dining budget, it is well worth going to for a special meal! "
