April 2010 — "We were born and raised on high river, have seen and heard it all as waiting for food at the hitchin post. I don't think people get it, for quality great food is not quick the allure of it is the wait. You meet many people and love explaining the menu of greatness. Family owned and ran for so many years their quality has only grown without the unreasonable prices. Love love love when spring comes around and you get the home goodness smell of the hitchin post, never had a bad meal there. Glad to see it still going.

November 2009 — "After reading the reviews on this site, I was expecting so much more. Especially after one reviewer compared it Peter's Drive-in in Calgary, which serves huge portions of tasty fast food.
I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and was very disappointed with both. The burger was small and nothing special. Bland actually. The fries were greasy and nothing special. I paid an extra 60 cents for gravy and received a small container of what must have been concentrated mushroom soup. It was not good. All in all, my order was over-priced and highly underwhelming.
To be fair, I didn't have the HP burger and I didn't have a milkshake.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but I doubt I'll go back."

June 2008 — "Wow! I was really surprised by how delicious our lunch here was. I had received a glowing recommendation from a friend about the Hitchin' Post, but it is just a small, faded, little shack, so my expectations were pretty low.
Ordered way too much food - a real strawberry milkshake for me, a chocolate banana one for my husband, deep fried mushrooms to share and an HP burger each. The HP burger is two beef patties, a ham slice, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onions and condiments. From reading the menu, I thought it would be a burger with HP sauce on it, but a friendly person who was also waiting to order corrected me. The beef on the burger was so tasty - no skimpy little patties here!
I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewer - it is well worth the drive from Calgary!"

August 2007 — "The Hitchin Post is High River's version of Peter's Drive-In only better. I grew up in the High River area and anyone else who did is familiar with the popular burger stop that has been around long before the MacDonald's & Dairy Queen arrived in town. The hamburgers, fries and milkshakes are all good but I am always a sucker for the deep fried mushrooms. Be forewarned, the bag comes dripping in grease but that's what makes them taste so good! If you are looking for an escape from the city take the trip out to High River to the Hichin Post. It's worth the drive!"
