April 2010 — "I finally made it to the new Ironwood to see a band and was really impressed -- it's a great old building and they've done it up really nicely. It's maybe a slightly awkward place to see a show as it's really long and skinny so it's hard to see the stage from some areas, but if you go, go early enough to score a sweet seat. Also, the "dancefloor" is really just a strip of space in front of stage -- it might have been nice to have a proper dace area but I guess it depends on what kind of show is going on.
The drink selection is pretty good, although they ran out of the beer I was drinking after one pint. The food is really good and the menu is impressive -- I just had some bread and soup but it was amazing. The server was really sweet and attentive. The bathroom is really tiny and in need of updating. They charge the covercharge on your bill -- I think that's a bit cheeky but I guess it works out better for them. "

April 2010 — "My fly-fishing lesson was cancelled, my date night plan ruined! I had to quickly find something that my guy would appreciate; I found The Ironwood on their final night at their old location. They had live entertainment on a Tuesday evening, which turned out to be great and the crowd was appreciative of the talent. The service was quick and friendly, but this being their last night, some things had already moved over to their new space. Their flatbread—we tried the smoked chicken—was delicious. I found the calamari a bit tough; nothing was done about this, but my dinner mate did enjoy it. My steak sandwich was very good and the vegetables were nicely cooked. The atmosphere was definitely rustic and reminded me of a large old garage or barn (it was a fixed-up Quonset), but it was fun and relaxed. A parade was announced by one of the regulars, of which The Ironwood seems to have many. We were all to join the parade and carry a chair to the new location a few doors down at the historic Garry Theatre. The musicians played as we all followed and checked out the new place, which is covered in beautiful wood; even the chairs were a beautiful wood. The acoustics were lovely. Because they hadn’t fully moved yet, they couldn’t serve there, so the musicians played while we checked out the space, and that was the end."

August 2007 — "This Pub is in my neighbourhood and I have been on a few occassions to listen to live music here. On all the occassions but the last time we went (a couple of nights ago) the service has been a little slow and not very friendly. What they lacked in this however, they made up for in food quality and atmosphere. The veggie burger and crab cakes are soooo amazing, as are the flatbreads (I recommend the chicken and apple flatbread - so very good!). I will come back because of this and the fact that it is one of the few live music venues in the city, but I hope they do work to improve their service (and if my last visit was indicative of this, they are working on this area). All in all a great place to go for dinner and a show on a Friday or Saturday night (oh, and the open mic night on Wednesday is great also)"

May 2007 — "The menu was fantastic and the portions where great. I wish I had room for more. The prawn lollipops were fantastic, mouth watering salad and the fish was so light, I crave it again!"
