March 2012 — "Molly Malones is tucked away in Kensington and you wouldnt find it if you werent looking for it. I have been in that area soo many times, but have never actually been myself. I have heard nothing but raves about the fabulous food specials for cheap prices and large portion sizes. One afternoon while in the area, we were looking for a lunch spot and were right there so it seemed pretty much like the place to go. Not busy atall for a Wednesday afternoon, we quickly settled into a nice booth by the window. Our waitress was spunky fun and full of energy so happy to greet us. She took our drink orders, we had Alexander Keith's on Draught as it was on special for 3.99! The fish and chips, which was also on special and one of my favorites was 4.99 for a plate. So we both ordered it. The fish was hot, fresh, and cooked just right. The tar tar sauce, home made and great. We finished a few more beers, and tipped our waitress gratefully. She was really good to us. I think it would be alot of fun to come here on a weekend when there is a bit more going on. Small venue for live bands, but as our server told us, they pack em in!"

"Good spot!"

December 2011 — "I've been to Molly Malone's a few times over the years and I've always had a pretty good time. It bills itself as an Irish pub and having been to Ireland several times, I can say it comes pretty close -- it's a bit dark with tiny rooms and big booths comfy, but it's also quite modern and a bit on the expensive side. But the service is always prompt and efficient (aside from one incredibly rude waitress we had once, who is still there but who I avoid) and it's got a good atmosphere so I'd definitely recommend it for a few drinks when you're out in Kensington. The drinks are good -- they have a selection of import and domestic beer, but there aren't that many imports compared to other Irish pubs I've been to. They have a good wine selection, but it's a bit expensive. The last time I was there, it was for a Christmas party and the food was pretty disappointing. We had mostly appetizers, but even when they were fresh, they were a bit dry and flavourless. "

"Rooftop Kensington Style"

Save Review

July 2011 — "Once you walk through the dark and dingy pub to get to the stairwell that takes you to the rooftop patio, you appreciate this Irish pub. The patio has it's own bar and more importantly bartender. I ordered the shepherd's pie since it was seasoned lamb, ground beef, veggies, under a layer of horseradish potatoes. Conveniently enough, they have a food elevator bringing orders up to the patio although it was working overtime on this hot day so the food didn't arrive quickly. It did arrive hot but that wasn't enough to make it taste good. The shepherd's pie was quite bland. I couldn't taste the seasoning in the meat nor the horseradish in the potatoes. The potatoes were also only partially mashed so I had to take bites of boiled potatoes with nothing to add flavour-wise. I would only return to have beer on the rooftop patio. I was quite nicely decorated with huge hanging flower pots. The patio attracts people of all walks of life, especially thirsty ones."

"Might Go Back"

September 2008 — "I went to Molly Malone's for lunch and might go back. Their lunch specials were $6.50, which is a pretty good deal. However they didn't have much selection and I found the food kind of bland. I think the pub might be more fun at night, such as 10 cent wing night. I will give them props for their decor. It actually feels like an old Irish pub with the decor they have chosen. However, one thing I did find annoying with my visit there was that they don't have debut. I had to take out cash from their ATM and was charged $2 for doing so. I think it's horrible when restaurants don't have a standard thing such as debut and then you are charged a fee for taking cash out to cover the bill."

February 2007 — "We were early for a movie so we stopped by for a beer before the show. An easy walk from teh train brought us to Molly's. Graced with a lovely waitress, we ordered our Keiths and had a lovely time. Beer was cold patrons were more than friendly. As a twenty something I was surprised by the thirty somethings as well as the seventy somethings sitting around us. Twenty bucks covered three drinks, and I had more than a good time with my girlfriends. A definate spot to visit again. "

"An Overall Fun Time!"

November 2006 — "We went to Molly Malone's after work on a Friday night. We didn't get there until 1am and the place was packed!! The music was EXTREMELY loud, almost unbearably so. Most of the patrons were pretty hammered and dancing around. It took us awhile to find a table where we would be able to sit and hear one another's yells. The music ranged from Irish tunes to country songs to old-school rap songs. It was pretty hilarious. It was really smoky in there, but that's a given on a Friday night. Our waitress, although drunk herself, was very good and she brought our drinks promptly. In the end we actually had a good time in the festive atmosphere of Molly Malone's. It was a highly entertaining spot and perhaps I will go there again when intimate conversation isn't on the agenda. "

"Worst Customer Service EVER!!"

Save Review

September 2006 — "Around 10 pm, on a Thursday, we went for a pint and a quick bite.... didn't want to be in a smoky bar, so went rooftop. Ordered a couple of beers (girlfriend and I), then ordered a couple of appetizers. Within minutes, we noticed it starting to get cold. Asked if they had shut off the heaters, waitress said 'I think so, I'll go check'...then never heard from her again, (until we received our food). She then brought the bill for our table, 20 minutes before we received any food. They were closing the rooftop, so before we even had our food, we decided to get it to go. They attempted to apologize, but too little too late. If they were planning on closing up, they should have told us before we put in an order and shut off the heat. Oh....and the beer was ridiculously OVER-priced!! Thanks for the one and ONLY time I'll ever step foot in Molly Malone's. "

"Pretty Authentic"
Image

Save Review

December 2005 — "For a re-made pub with an Irish theme, Molly Malones is pretty authentic. There a large selection of beer on tap, and attempts have been made to make things as quaint as possible with a couple of site rooms and booths. The crowd seemed fairly diverse, tending toward the student population, but the over thirty set wouldn't feel uncomfortable here. The menu had a good selection too (standard pub fare) and we enjoyed our food. Sometimes the music can be too loud when it gets later, making conversations difficult, or maybe the conversations were difficult because of the beer. Oh, and they need a better ladies loo."
