April 2010 — "A little while ago, I had this big lemon craze and with a friends suggestion in mind, I made my stop at Brulee Patisserie/Bakery. Awesome little bakery on 11th Ave. They have an informative website that gives you an idea of what they have to offer. The pictures don't really serve the pastries and baked goods justice, but they definitely don't lack in flavour and ompf! The lemon tart was very yummy and very citrusy. Afterwards, my friend made a special order for the lemon souffle and wow! Definitely in my books as well. I loved that it wasn't to overpowered with sugar that the lemon taste was gone. Just so you know, these treats do not last long. If you are not making special orders, you should stop by earlier to make sure that they have what you are looking for. It doesn't hurt to call in either. It's a nice bakery that still looks quaint and a little upscale. Hope this cures your sweet tooths cause it definitely did the trick for me. "

"The Lost Art of a True Bakery"

March 2008 — "Don't be late... or you'll miss out on some great freshly baked goodies! This little gem hidden in the basement under The Cookbook Company is what I think of when I am dreaming of being back in Europe... the quintessential neighorhood baker. Often when running around preparing for a dinner party I will stop in at Metrovino for a few bottles of wine and well... you can't not stop at Metrovino and miss popping downstairs to Brulee for a few treats. In particular their creative flat breads (Focaccia) are to die for. Figs, sundried tomatoes, sweet baked garlic... yum, yum, yum. It makes for such an easy little appetizer when your guests arrive. Grab a little EVO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) upstairs at The Cookbook Company with some aged Balsamic and well... all your friends will think you are totally gourmet!
To wrap up your dinner - their lemon tarts are classic! A great way to end a meal with a little something tart and sweet all at the same time. The service is excellent and always pleasant. The prices are reasonable for what you get - and you get a warm feeling inside when you know your supporting the local community.
They are a definite "four" dessert forks up for class and style!"

DescriptionBrulee Patisserie is located in the basement of the Cookbook Co. Enjoy a variety of desserts including cakes and cookies. They are open Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Pick-up orders are tken from Tuesday to Saturday.
