July 2008 — "The Falafel King is hands-down one of the best lunch places in downtown Calgary. Their Falafels and Shawarmas are both amazing and huge! (definitely sure to fill you up, if you can finish it.) They also offer a complimentary traditional dessert, Baklava, with every sandwich, which is the perfect end to the meal, small and sweet. Don't be scared away by the long lunch lines, the employees move surprisingly fast, and the lines move quickly."

I agree with one of the other reviews that sometimes the chicken is somewhat....debatable, but overall one of Calgary's best falafel and schwarma places. If you go at lunchtime, go shortly after one p.m. and the line up has usually disappeared. "

September 2006 — "I have tried nearly everything on the menu, and loved it all. My favourite is the Chicken Shawarma sandwich. All made fresh to order, right in front of you. I recommend getting the fully loaded version: hot sauce, garlic sauce, lettuce, cabbage, onions, pickles and freshly roasted chicken - I think there's tabouli in there too. The "King" and his family are friendly and efficient. Top that off with a smoothie and free piece of baklava and you are set. Perfect for take-out lunch to enjoy on a sunny day at Olympic Plaza."

August 2006 — "Without a doubt this is my favourite falafel place in Calgary. For about $6 you get an extra large pita stuffed with fresh ingredients including falafel patties (of course), lettuce, parsley, tahini, radishes, tomatoes, pickles and hot sauce. I rarely finish the sandwich because it's just too big, but I always save a little room for dessert -- a flakey and sweet piece of baklava (free). A word of caution: the restaurant is small and, at lunchtime, fills up faster than you can say shawarma."

July 2006 — "The Falafel King is often lined up out the door at lunchtime, but as it's a take-out place offering fast service, the wait is usually not long. Their most popular items are Mediterranean Pita Wraps (like Falafel, Shawarma, etc.), but they offer other stuff too. I used to get the Chicken Shawarma, but I found that sometimes (but not too often) my chicken was a bit dodgy (kind of gristly and off-tasting) so I started getting the falafel instead, which is absolutely fantastic. The pita is HUGE (they cost about $7 - good deal) and they also give you a little peice of baklava, which is absolutely to die for. The guy at the cash register is always very friendly and charming. They have a little patio out front, which is great on a sunny day if you can get a seat. "
