October 2011 — "Baan Thai was very cozy, if a tad bit cramped in. Fitting no more than 40 people at maximum, my friend and I had a very short wait of 5 minutes. I did order the cashew chicken, my go-to dish of choice at Thai restaurants, and was quite pleased. We also shared spring rolls to start, which were in fact fried (my preference) and had that satisfying crunch. My very generous portion also provided both lunch and dinner the following day, making the $13.50 dollar price tag incredibly reasonable. I did order the sticky rice on the side, an additional fee, but one I find necessary to truly enjoy my meal. Our service was not the most expedient, however it was a busy time that we had gone to the restaurant. Overall, the meal, the service and the atmosphere were enjoyed by both myself and my friend. It would be a pleasure to recommend this restaurant to those who asked."

"Very fast service!"

November 2008 — "Baan Thai has a fairly small menu but everything I've tried is delicious! A couple of us went out for lunch on a weekday and decided on Thai food. Baan Thai happened to be close by so we thought we'd eat there. We were there 11:30am to avoid the lunch crowd and were happy to arrive when we did! The place packs out pretty quickly and the seats on the outer edge, disappear first then the ones in the middle of the restaurant fill up quick but they're literally about 2 inches apart so I'm guessing there's not very much intimate conversation going on there! I ordered a chicken dish that came with 2 spring rolls, and a soup for under $11. Delicious food and fast service for cheap. If I wasn't so hungry, I could have easily had some to go for lunch the next day because the portions are a good size. I've a few dishes here and I've thoroughly enjoyed them all."

"Very Popular Little Place"

July 2008 — " A co-worker & I were in Victoria on a course with not alot of time to spare and needing to find a place to eat lunch in the area. We were also on foot when we just happen to stumble across this little nook just jumping with action right on Blanshard. Realizing the popularity of this restaurant, we ventured inside and managed to get the last available table for 2. It was a little noisy and the tables are closely knit. Probably not a place where you can have a quiet private conversation or catch up with an old friend. The waitress was polite and the service was extremely fast which is why this place seemed so popular with the business office crowd. The person at the table beside me had the phad thai and it looked and smelled wonderful. I had a hard time deciding because it all looked so good. We ended up both ordering the Thai coconut chicken curry combo which came with a vegetable soup, rice and 2 vegetable spring rolls. ($9) The portions seemed fairly large and tasted delicious. The restaurant also appeared to be clean. People didnt seem to mind a short wait to get into this little hidden gem. They obviously knew it was well worth the wait. I Would definately go back as I really enjoy a good thai restaurant. "

"More Baan For Your Buck"

April 2008 — "While cruising Oak Bay, looking for some dinner, me and my family stumbled upon this tiny restaurant at the intersection of Foul Bay, Fort and Cadboro Bay. Its a pretty lousy location that's hard to see and even harder to park in but its also hardly worth complaining about. The atmosphere is pretty trendy, but not insultingly so. There is plenty of art on the walls and a nice urban look to the place. The service was quick and friendly and the food was more than worth its low price. I ordered a vegetarian red curry dish, my girlfriend ordered a chicken green curry and my paps ordered some sort of chicken flash fried noodle dish (please excuse my omitance of the proper Thai names, I was born and raised in Canada). All three of our meals came very quickly, tasted great and cost less than $14. "

"My First Thai Experience"

February 2008 — "I am not usually very adventurous with my dining choices but my friend assured me that I would like this place. I was a little worried when I looked over the lunch menu - hot, not so hot and mild, were the seasoning choices! This is a very small restaurant with tables set up with two rows along the walls and one in the center of the room. This is not a place to go for private chit-chat. The lunch menu had nine or so dishes to select from. The last three were combo plates with egg rolls, soup and a entree selection and not being familiar with Thai food, I went for the combo. I was a little concerned when the waitress told me that I couldn't get my lunch mildly spiced because it only came in one intensity, but she assured me that it wasn't fiery hot. And she was right. I order a spicy curry vegetable dish served with rice. It was hot but not so bad that it ruined the meal for me. My friend had a chicken dish served with a coconut milk based sauce with cashews served with rice. We were both impressed with our meals and the price. The portions were generous. The only criticism I would make is that the place is very popular but it is small and for the entire time we were there, there was a line-up of people waiting to be seated. This made me feel a bit rushed so we didn't sit and chat after we ate. I wouldn't recommend going right at noon, maybe a little earlier or a little later to miss the lunch rush, but I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. "

"Amazing food, great value for your dollar lunch specials."

April 2007 — "The food at Baan Thai lives up to its popularity. You will probably have a wait for lunch on any given day, as the restaurant is small, but the food is worth the wait. The service is very quick and the lunch specials will not disappoint. For under 10$ they offer 4 different combination lunches which come with a bowl of soup and 2 spring rolls. The lunch combos also contain traditional Thai dishes such as curries and pad thai, which is one of the best I have every had. There are also other menu items available for lunch as well, ranging from 9-12$. Although the restaurant is small it is very bright and clean. I would definitely recommend Baan Thai for a weekday lunch. I would suggest arriving before 12 as the place does become quite busy and you might have a bit of a wait getting a table."
