August 2011 — "We heard from friends that this was the place for fish and chips so we trekked out and found Haultain's.
The building itself isn't much to look at and the inside was very small - maybe room for 12-14 tables and booths which only held 4 people each. My party had to sit at two different areas.
The decor looks like it hasn't been updated in decades. The booths weren't very comfortable.
However, the server was incredibly friendly. We ordered the fish and chips. Soft drinks came in a can and were accompanied by a glass. No free refills here!
The place was packed and we got the feeling there were a lot of repeat customers and many of the patrons were referred to by their first names.
The meal itself was incredibly good. The fish was amazing and the fries were fresh cut and thick.
I will definately be eating here again on my next trip to Victoria!"

January 2008 — "There's a reason why you'll spot regulars at this restaurant night after night: cause it's darn good. Located off the beaten path on Haultain Street, just east of Cook Street and approximately a 25-30 minute walk from downtown Victoria, Haultain Fish and Chips serves a variety of tasty dishes -- mostly deep fried. The portions are HUGE (especially the fries) and their homemade coleslaw and tartar sauce are fantastic. I'm not a fish and chips connoisseur, but I know good food when I taste it -- and that's what Haultain Fish and Chips serves. My only complaint about this restaurant is that it needs a makeover (including more seating/standing space for people waiting for takeout)."
