October 2011 — "The other day 3 of my family members & I decided to try the Fireside Grill for my moms birthday lunch. We made reservations for 1230. We arrived on time and the parking lot was packed. They have a couple of different areas to park which is very handy to the restaurant and is also free parking. There was a large group function going on in the downstairs restaurant area. We were seated upstairs which was perfectly fine. It is a old English tudor style house with lots of character fixtures and artwork on the wall. They had a 7 for $11 special sheet. I chose one of the seven. It was the Seared chili prawns, green Pea & cilantro puree, which came displayed very elegantly with tempura yams, seasame green beans and yellow tomatoe salad for $11. It was delicious. Others in my party had the spinach salad $11 and added prawns, Caeser salad ($9) and added chicken, and the fireside chopped salad ($9) and added prawns. I believe the add's were about $6 each. The portions were large and presentation was very nice. We were served a basket of fresh warm bread shortly after we ordered. The waitress was very friendly and service was fast, considering the place was very busy for a Monday lunchtime. They had other items on the menu such as Bruchetta, Calamari, seafood wrap, salami & goat cheese pizza, chicken & portobello fettuccini, Grilled Sockey Salmon burger, fish & chips etc. There was a wide selection of items to please any taste. I thought the quality of the ingredients were on the higher end of the scale. The washrooms were very clean. I would definitely go back and try something else on the menu as i had a hard time deciding, it all looked so good.

December 2009 — "The restaurant is in a Tudor style building which looks like it was originally a house that has been converted into a restaurant. The house has a lovely setting, surrounded by oak trees and a large garden. As you enter, there is plaque noting that it is a heritage property and that adds to the charm of the place. Inside the restaurant is large and there are also outside patio areas. We were seated inside as it was too cold and rainy to be outside that day and the restaurant is tastefully decorated plus they were ready for Christmas as their Christmas decorations were up. The menu is quite extensive and the restaurant prides itself on providing a fine dining experience. I chose the Beef and Smoked Cheddar Burger at $13.99. The burger was good and the patty was smaller than usual plus it was served with fries which were place in a small container which was then placed on the plate next to the burger. I enjoyed my experience at the Fireside Grill and it is a nice place to go if you want a more upmarket dining experience but still affordable."

November 2009 — "I have been to the fireside grill on several occasions, both for lunch and with a group. It is an old fashioned tudor-style house with large vaulted ceilings and classic decor. I really liked the atmoshere and the service here is outstanding. Servers are very professional and are there to help. For lunch I have had both burgers and sandwiches are all very good, coming with a nice house salad or crispy little fries. I have also had a seafood pasta which was excellent and well worth the money. The restaurant is not cheap (14 burger/fries) but it's worth it.
On other occasions I have been there for a meeting where they have private meeting rooms upstairs. This is a great option for less than 20 people, as the rooms are very private and can offer the same food and wine. I would be interested in this as a venue for a larger group for Christmas for example..."

December 2007 — "The Fireside Grill is located in an old tudor-style building in the Royal Oak area of Victoria. The building is very interesting from the outside with trellis' along the pathways with vines entwined and outdoor patio with a large fireplace. I suspect sitting outdoors in the summer is popular as the setting was quite romantic. Inside was a little disappointing. The restaurant is located in one very large room full of tables. There was little separating one table from another so there wasn't much privacy. The ceiling was high and vaulted so the room was quite noisy. We were shown to our seat near the the blazing fireplace and were quickly warmed up. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was very familiar with the menu and was able to answer all of our questions. The menu selection is not huge but varied. I order crab and shrimp cakes. They were served with a nice salad, house dressing and a special chipolte majo sauce. My friend ordered one of the evening specials, tender carpaccio served with a salad. We shared an order of flatbread. Her serving was very small but she enjoyed it. Prices were a little more than we had expected. I would recommend going there but I do not think it would be a place that I would frequent. "
