December 2011 — "When I walked in here, I saw tables and tables of families (including us)-I'm guessing it's because the portions are pretty big for the price and the food isn't exactly adventurous. My parents love this place, the soup can get a bit salty and the duck is amazingly soft. I think this is a good place if you want to be full and you're not into the more adventurous course dinners available in Downtown Calgary. "

December 2008 — "When we first entered LeVilla, I thought the experience was going to be horrible since there was a large table for some kind of Christmas party right in the middle of the restaurant. However, it improved greatly when we were led to a table in a separate, enclosed dining room very much apart from the main entrance area. This is when I realized that the ambiance and the dining experience were going to be very special.
Set in a strip mall in Signal Hills, this restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside. However, we took our friends' advice and decided to spend our birthday dinners here. Once at our table, the atmosphere with the large picture windows seemed like we were dining in the mountains and the fireplace was a nice touch.
The menu was filled with succulent delights, like prime rib, steak Madagascar, halibut and tons of other seafood dishes. I chose to have the soup of the day to start, a beef and potato blend. My wife had the poached pear salad with a balsamic vinaigrette with borsin cheese. For my main course I had Steak Madagascar and she had Beef Tenderloin with Marsala wild mushroom sauce.
I can't even describe how well-cooked everything was. The steak was medium rare, the sides were delicious, the soup was great, the salad was amazing and the bottle of wine we ordered was divine.
On top of all this great food and wine, the service was impeccable. She was forever filling our glasses with water, topping up our wine and making sure the entire experience was unforgettable. The best thing was, I have severe nut and seafood allergies and they guaranteed that the food I ordered would not be a problem. In fact, she went the extra distance and suggested (before we asked), what desserts would be appropriate for my allergy.
It is hard for me to find any complaint with this restaurant - the food, the service, the ambiance. It felt like I was hanging out in someone's alpine living room, yet I was enjoying the best food and drink I had had in a long, long time. We will definitely go back, even though we live across the city and it's a long drive.
