June 2009 — "If you are ever in the mood of some good Montreal Smoked Meat, then you have to pay a visit to Palace of Eats. Its located just off 17th Ave SW next to Galaxie Diner. Be warned, if you come here on a Saturday afternoon, you will be faced with sizeable wait times. Once you enter, you will find a long narrow space with not too much seating. The menu had various deli sandwiches but I chose the Montréal smoked meat sandwich, and you can choose between 3 different sizes. I just got the medium size and the thing came loaded, lots and lots of smoked meat. They slice it fresh in the restaurant and comes with a pickle and some chips on the side. The bill for me came to just over 10 dollars, but you do get a pretty big sandwich for your money. Since there was still many people waiting at the door, I felt rushed to finish my sandwich and leave so that the other customers can come in. After tasting the food, I understand why there is such a line up. A very nice place to visit on when you have some free afternoon, be sure to check it out."

If you don't like meat, you best stay out of this joint. It's a no-nonsense deli, where you're expected to order a Montreal smoked meat sandwich, and the only question is "how much of it do you want?".
I went with a regularly-sized sandwich and was more than happy with the serving. The meat was warm and had plenty of taste and the chips they served with it were a nice deli-touch.
The service was appropriately brisk, yet polite, however I do get the sense that this is not the kind of place that takes kindly to people spending an inordinate amount of time just hanging out after their meals. Of course this might have something to do with the fact the place is quite small and waiting for a table to open up seems to be the norm.
Make sure to grab a root beer to go along with your meal!"
