January 2010 — "I had gone to the Drum and Monkey for a quick bite and some beers before walking over to the Saddledome to watch the Flames. Perhaps they didn't realize we were headed to the game as the food took forever to get to us. There weren't many people there so this didn't make much sense to me. When we finally got our food we had to inhale it and run out in order to get to the game in time for the opening face off. I've never eaten so fast in my life.
On the plus side the chicken quesadilla I had was actually pretty good and the fries were also good. Of course being a bar, beer was plentiful and did the job just before the game. "

August 2009 — "I met a few friends here for lunch the other day at the Drum and Monkey and overall had a enjoyable experience and would recommend this restaurant to others. It is a very casual type atmosphere with a British style menu. Initially we had decided to sit on the patio as the weather was decent at that time, the table was slightly dirty, however the waitress returned promptly to clean it. We moved inside into the booths as the weather has turned ugly and the tables were all clean inside. The menu had a variety of choices and was suitable for vegans with great salad choices. I decided to choose the Taco Salad with Chicken in which I enjoyed VERY MUCH. The salad was quite large and almost seemed to be endless. I took the left overs home and it kept well. The other two people I was with also both ordered salads (one was the same as mine) and the other decided to go with Greek Salad. Everyone enjoyed the meals and had no complaints. The prices are reasonable and the service was friendly. "

January 2009 — "The Drum and Monkey is a small pub in downtown Calgary that has a really relaxed atmosphere. When I lived in Calgary, it was one of my favorite after work drink spots as the clientele, the staff and just the general feeling is so low key. They have daily drink and food specials (Thursdays half priced starters and $4 pints is one of my favorite days!) and although it is a small and busy place on the weekends, you can always find a table on a weekday late afternoon. There are tv's usually playing some sports event and it is especially busy before a Flames homegame because of its convenient location.
The Drum and Monkey salad is one of the best restaurant salads I have ever had....something about the combination of apples, feta and Jack Daniels dressing. So good. I have also enjoyed the Santa Fe veggie burger (complete with jalapenos) and the homemade Mac and Cheese. They have a great selection of starters and I love that their onion rings are served on a vertical stick as it makes eating them fun.
Although a relaxed pub, the Drum and Monkey is attached to the Bamboo Tiki room which always has DJ's on the weekends, creating that perfect atmosphere of dance bar on one side and pub on the other. The Drum and Monkey is a great place to go any day of the week.

November 2008 — "I had never been to the Drum & Monkey, but had heard that it was really good, so on a recent lunch date with my girlfriend she suggested we go there. We arrived around 11:30am, because she informed me that there was a lunch rush during weekdays, and we got a nice booth. The server was very attentive... I decided to get a Newcastle on tap, which was very tasty. The menu was filled with a lot of great-sounding items, but I chose to go for the Silverback burger, which had a burger patty, spolumbos sausages and fried ham on it. I can say that it was a mouthful! I had fries with it and I actually cleaned my plate it was that good.
My girlfriend ordered the taco salad with chicken... apparently she had already ordered that from this restaurant two or three times that week. Once she finds something she likes she just can't kick it!
Overall, the experience was very good. I can't believe it took me years to get down to this pub. I will definitely go back and try something else off the menu."

September 2008 — "I went to the Drum & Monkey with co-workers for lunch and loved it. The food was delicious. The menu was full of popular pub food. I had the chicken taco salad. It was absolutely huge! It was good...quite spicy though. Make sure you have some water close by if you order the taco salad. My only complaint is that since the Drum & Monkey gets really busy at lunchtime it can be quite noisy at that time. I had trouble hearing people who were only a few feet away from me due to the noise."

November 2006 — "I have been going to the Drum & Monkey for drinks for years, but haven't had the chance to try their food until today. Their menu is filled with traditional pub favourites, such as burgers, appetizers, salads, quesadillas and entrees, and I chose to have the Diablo Quesadilla with a Greek salad. I added chicken to my quesadilla and it was soooooooooo tasty. The Greek Salad had a ton of garlic on it, so beware, but was really good too. I would recommend this pub for an after-work drink or lunch! It has a nice atmosphere, much better than it used to be when it was The Werx. "

July 2006 — "The Drum & Monkey is a great spot to go for a pint after work or just hang out and visit with friends. If you're an indie music fan, you'll love pretty much everything they play (one of the biggest draws in my opinion). The menu has a lot of traditional pub food but they've also got some more unique choices including some interesting salads. There are food and drink specials pretty much every day and they are really good specials (half price appetizers, $2.50 pints, etc). Tuesday nights are especially cool as it's their Dub night when it's usually packed full of local music store employees and other in-the-know types. A really cool tiki lounge called Bamboo is attached to the Drum and they play funk, soul and Motown on Saturday's, so if you get tired of sitting and chatting you can head over and dance. Both the Drum and Bamboo are definitely worth a visit"

Music ranges from hip hop to reggae to indie rock and special nights include the incredibly popular Dub at the Pub on Tuesdays. The Drum is attached to the equally busy Bamboo Tiki Lounge which opens later in the evening and features a dance floor.
